“How many times have I told you not to bring me to your friend Soumitra’s exhibitions? I don’t understand a thing about modern art” Trina said angrily.
“Neither do I” Himu chuckled.
“Why did we come then?” her voice still angry
“I have an idea to convert this to our wedding venue. There are tables, seats and the centre can be the dance floor” Himu said with an impish grin.
Trina almost burst into laughter.
Soumitra overheard this from behind. This is the worst joke anyone ever made of his creation. He never expected this from his best friend Himu.

Dear Balaka,
Artists are such sensitive creatures, aren’t they? I’m with Trina on much of modern art. I’m a Vermeer fan myself. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

A shame they were offended, I think it would make a memorable venue and as an artist that should please them. Nicely written.

Art in the hands of the dilettante or worse the artless turns worthless. A lovely story, balaka.

I love Himu’s Idea. A white wedding would be a scene to behold with a red and gold exception for the bride.🙂
Lovely story, Balaka.

Thank you Moon…. The bride can also wear a white benarasi… I had a friend who wore a white dhakai for her wedding and I so loved it… Btw did you read Varad’s guest post?? Please read, you will love it.

I imagine her parents are less orthodox. I admire that she didn’t succumb to superstitions.
I will read Varad’s story right away. Thanks for telling me.🙂

What an artist overhears at an exhibit of their work…. sometimes it can be horrid, others, the most rewarding… Love how you painted the picture.

I love that you saw a wedding venue in the prompt. Soumitra seems to take his art, and himself, a little too seriously perhaps. As Keith rightly says, the wedding will bring him commissions. It will certainly bring him appreciation from the guests.

I guess most artists are very self obsessed… But yes Soumitra should think of alternative avenues of earning. Thanks Penny for this lovely comment.

Feel kind of sorry for the artist, but at the same time. . . .I don’t get it, either!

Those artists can be really touchy. And what are best friends there for, other than making fun of you? Nice one, Balaka
